Reading is a huge part of my life, I am always on a hunt for
next thing to read. Business books are no exception; regardless if you run your
own business or are working for the wo(man), we can all use some advice once in
a while. So if you are looking to bolster your networking, leadership, and
time-management skills, it's time to get reading… and we've rounded up some of
our favorite business books.
'Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High' by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler
I stumbled on this book at work and highly recommend it. In order succeed in (any) business, you must know how to communicate.
'So Good They Can't Ignore You' by Cal Newport
This book offers the most common advice you'll hear when you're starting out is that if you pursue your passion but sometimes that is what you need.
'#GirlBoss' by Sophia Amoruso
We talked about this book in our #bookofthemonth segment, and had to include it again. Amoruso, founder of online retailer Nasty Gal, isn't afraid to get personal and shares some practical and useful advice.
'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change' by Stephen R. Covey
I think I received this book at a leadership retreat, and took a while to actually get around to reading it but am I ever glad I did. The book covers everything from family life to productivity and positive thinking.
'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg
This is great book, and you need to read it. The reason it’s such a good book is because it uses research to explain how habits are formed and changed.
