Movies and Homemade Tacos- Pick your favourite genre of movie whether it be horror, comedy, romance, action it doesn't matter really just pick one and binge watch your heart out. Why the homemade tacos I bet you are asking. Well for one they are easy to make and for two who doesn't love tacos! If you don't then order in or make something else, the important part is binge watching movies anyway.
Pub Crawl- What says non traditional better than bar hopping and drinking! I was actually quite surprised when I found The 12 Barz of Christmas, while there isn't one here in Edmonton there is one in Calgary and all across Canada so find the one closest to you and check it out. It could even turn into a fun road trip!
Volunteer- There are so many great causes that need help around the holidays, the ones you can find everywhere are soup kitchens, the Food Bank, Salvation Army. You can also find a charity that is closer to your heart. Whether that is animals, children or the homeless there are tons of opportunities to help out. A few suggestions are Festival of Trees, Christmas Bureau of Edmonton, City Kidz, Edmonton Humane Society.
Tropical Vacation- Now this one isn't new or ground breaking I mean they even made a movie about it think Four Christmases. But this is still a good idea, especially if you want to avoid people and you live somewhere cold. Why not go somewhere warm with beaches and not have the stress of buying presents. A few sites that can help you plan that last minute trip Expedia itravel200.com, and Sunwing.
Give Christmas To Someone Else- Find someone who can't afford Christmas and help them by buying them a tree, presents and other decorations. You can do this within what you can afford any little bit helps. In the economic climate we've had recently, especially here in Alberta helping out someone else celebrate Christmas is a good way to give back. Not only does helping out someone else make them feel good but it will make you feel good as well.
How will you be spending the Holidays? Any suggestions for non-traditional plans?
