I am huge dessert fan and love baking. Last weekend I decided to make a cake only to realize that my sister and I actually didn't have any flour at our condo. I laughed, and half freaked out, like how did I live here for last 4 months and have no flour?
Once I calmed down, I gathered things I did have in the kitchen to make a chocolate cake. Almonds are a great substitute for flour, so I decided to use that instead. You can purchase ground almonds, or put raw almond in the food processor for 5 minutes or so.
Ingredients:
200 grams of insulted butter (at room temperature)
20o grams of cacao powder
5 eggs
300 grams brown sugar
200 grams of ground almost (commonly referred to almond meal)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Prepare a pan of choice. I used a round pan but have done this with a 9in pan
Put batter and cocoa powered in cause pan over low heat. Mix occasionally until melted and combined. Set assisted.
Combine eggs and sugar into a bowl. Mix until foamy and about double the size in volume.
Add cocoa mixture and ground almonds, mix with a spoon.
Pour into a pan, bake for 30 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
You can use cacao powder or coconut to dust top of the cake. Sever warm with ice cream or with fruit once cool.
What do you guys think? Would you try it?
