Do you like reading? What kind of books do you read? I like reading and seem to kick off every year with a self help and inspiration type books. Not sure why I do that but it happens every year. Summer means new beginnings. Right? We rounded five books to help you excel in 2018 - let us know what you think.
I received this book as a Christmas Present and I was very excited about reading it. I was even more excited when I found out that the book comes with a test/assessment code you can take. It give your five of your dominant qualities and than the book helps you utilize those and learn how to best play to your dominant strengths. Stating off the year with an assessment was a great asset to me, it give me a kick off point and things I can focus on and learn
I got this book last year while at a conference and just never got around to actually reading it until now. While the book is written to help companies grow and get more efficient I found that it had a lot of valid points that helped me personally simplify and do things better. Its not the most exciting read but a good book to start off your 2018.
Unlike the first two books that I suggested this was is written from a funny, witty and familiar angle. Its not like a traditional self book but more of an inspirational book if you ask me. Some things she says in the book you will think " THE EFF" and disagree with her but we all need that, it makes you about things differently. Thinking and doing things differently even for a moment is how we grow and get better.
Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, Al Switzler, Stephen R. Covey
You have heard me talk about this book numerous times on the blog, and I know there is like ten editions of this book but it has some very valid points about how to best handle challenging situations and get best results. I am very much challenge when it comes to human interactions so reading this book has helped me tremendously in my professional and personal relationships. You can also check this link out to do an assessment of how you react under stress.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson
I read the title and thought to my self " I must read this". I received two copies of it for Christmas and started reading it as soon as I got my hands on it. There was many lessons I personally picked up from the book, mostly because at parts it forced me to reflect and look at things in harsh truth way which I might not have otherwise.
All the books recommended are based on my opinions alone. I know some of you are looking at this list thinking " What a hell is Nermisa on today?" but each of these books helped me learn something new, or go back to things I used to do but got away from.
