When I moved into
my apartment I had so many ideas and things I wanted to do. But reality of how
much everything costs hit fast and hard, so I had to compromise on some things
and make them myself vs buy them. A good
blanket ladder was one of those items on my list but with a price tag of $100+ I
decided that DIY-ing one was a much better choice. This ladder is a perfect
addition for your living room, bedroom, nursery, or for towel storage in your
bathroom. Best thing – it stands complete on its own (no walls needed).
You will need:
- Two round 5/8 In. x 48 In piece – I used Alexandria Moulding Hardwood Dowel 5/8 In. x 48 In. $3.49
- You will need 3 square board pieces – I used Alexandria Moulding Poplar D4S 1x2x6 Feet $3.39- $6.39 each
- Spray paint (optional) $1.99
- Sanding paper, drill and nails
How to make it:
- Cut round board pieces into 6 equal parts. 5 of those pieces will be used as rung on the ladder and one will be used to secure legs of the ladder
- Cur one of the square pieces 4 pieces. Two pieces will form the bottom part of the legs and two will be used to join legs to ladder.
- Drill holes for the round pieces to pas through on the 2 other square parts
- Place round pieces through holes to make ladder.
- Using nails fasten legs to ladder
- Spray paint
If you are looking for an easy, beginner project, that will give you a lot of bang for your buck, look no further! This entire project was super easy to make - it took less than an hour. In full disclosure I didn't drill things as my dad does things like that for me. The project all in cost me just under $30. This ladder would make a great gift as well.
