I've always loved the idea of staying in a hotel in my city. These is something indulgent and a fun about it. You see the city you live in a completely new light. This past week I had the opportunity to check out Varsocna hotel, in the heart of historic Old Strathcona, and nestled amongst numerous restaurants, boutiques and theaters blending bohemian panache with contemporary chic. While I head to Whyte Ave often most of the time feels like business or running around with a to do list I always felt like I had to ask for permission to experience the area as a tourist, indulged in pretty cocktails or spend the time exploring the Edmonton river valley or take me time curled up with a glass in the room sitting area with a good book.
Varscona hotel combines old-world comfort with modern amenities and it’s so close to so many restaurants, the UofA and the river valley. Ampersand 27 is located adjacent to the hotel and offer perfect atmosphere for a date night (or girls’ night on the town). &27 is about locally souring many of our ingredients from local producers. They also have a Thursday date night menu featuring 10 items for 10 dollars each, how amazing is that?
Also, I learned that when you have kids, staycations are really convenient and (my friends with kids) highly recommend you do them more often - but more on perfect Edmonton kid friendly staycations later.
Best part? You get to experience the date night at &27 and Varscona hotel.
Complimentary stay and visit to Ampersand 27 c/o Varscona hotel on Whyte and Ampersand 27, and our friends at Brand Bloom.
